Can you Landscape in the Winter

Posted on January 30, 2014 at 10:11 AM Comments comments (181)
Yes you can!!!!!!! You can landscape in the winter with our crazy weather here in Oklahoma. Some days are like spring and others are winter. Trees are especially great for planting in the winter time. You can also plant shrubs as well. I do not recommend planting any type of flowers though but other than that you are good to go. Your shrubs will live as long as you water them. Are the chances pretty high for your trees or shrubs dying? The answer is NO... In the winter when you water your shrubs it insulates that shrub/ tree especially before a winter storm hits. Will you have to water in the winter that often? The answer is NO again. When it is cool outside the ground will retain the moisture and you won't have to water that often.

If you think that winter you can't do any landscaping well h'm here to tell you differently. Winter is the best time to plant trees. You can actually get really good deals on them. I suggest having a professional to install your tress. There are certain trees that can't take much water and if you don't plant it just right well you just threw away your money. Example Blue Atlas Cedars do not like a lot of water and are not cheap either but are beautiful trees if you add it the right landscaping around them. Next, you have another tree like the Maples. They love water and you need to place them in the right area as well.  I was in a town last year and I seen that a person planted a sycamore tree which will get up to a 100 foot and they planted it next to their house. So again get with a landscaper and tell them what you like and go from there. This will save you time and a huge headache down the road.

Landscaping - Flower bed

Posted on November 10, 2013 at 5:12 PM Comments comments (146)
One question about landscaping customers always ask me is how to keep the weeds out of the flower beds. We have been installing and cleaning up flower beds for over 16 years. We have tried it all when it comes to keeping weeds out of the flower beds.
  • We have installed the weed cloth (matt, black plastic, all of the names people use) and it does work temporarily. Bermuda grass and nutsedge will grow through it with no problem. It will shut it out temporarily. This weed cloth works better with cool weather weeds (broad leaf)
The best method of keeping weeds out of a flower bed is old fashioned de-weeding of the flower bed. That is the method that we take on flower beds.

To sum this all up. If you want beautiful landscaping you have to de-weed and do this on a regular basis. If you like an estimate on landscaping give us a call or message us...
